SEASON 2009-2010

Welcome to the website of the Nicosia Barbarians Rugby Football Club.

The Nicosia Barbarians RFC was founded during the winter of 2003 by a group of keen expatriates. Emboldened by the heroics of our respective teams in the Rugby World Cup, although perhaps overconfident from the safety of our armchairs, we decided it was high time the capital of Cyprus had a rugby team to be proud of and to take the island by storm.

The team has successfully competed in the JSRFU league for the past 4 years finishing second in 2004-2005 and first in 2005-2006 season.We are a truly international team, with players from Cyprus, England, South Africa, Australia, Fiji, France, Roumania, Georgia, and the USA.

Players playing for the Nicosia Barbarians have represented the Cyprus National Rugby team (The Moufflons) as well as the British army team back in the UK.

While most of our players have not played since leaving school, we are a keen and talented side with an emphasis on team spirit.

Training and home games are held in the grounds of the Nicosia International Airport. 

The new season  will commence on the 18th of October 2008.

Μετά το νικηφόρο αγώνα της Εθνικής Κύπρου με το Αζερπαιζαν με σκορ 59-0 η Κύπρος αγωνίζεται εναντίον της δεύτερης σε κατάταξη ομάδας του Ευρωπαϊκού Ομίλου 3Δ τη Βοσνία. Ο αγώνας που θα διεξαχθεί στο Παφιακό στάδιο στις 29 Μαρτίου 2010 θα κρίνει τον πρωταθλητή του ομίλου και την άνοδο στην Κατηγορία 3Γ.

International Game

The Cyprus Rugby Federation invites all rugby enthusiasts to attend and support the Cyprus National Rugby team "The Moufflons" against Slovakia to be played on the 14th of March 2009, kick off at 14:00.

Referee course 2009

Rugby Union Referee's Course Akrotiri 2009
Ladies and Gentlemen,
There will is an Entry Level Referee Award (ELRA) Course being held at the FDS Building RAF Akrotiri begining 25th May ending  29th of May 2009, during the Akrotiri Tens.  Timings will be 07:30 - 13.00 daily and is open to all Service and Civilian personnel on a first come first served. Defeat to Paphos

First game of the season was a heavy defeat away to the Paphos Tigers.

First game of the 2008-2009 season

First game of the season on Saturday 25th of October is away to the Paphos Tigers, that finished second in the league last season. The game is to be played at the Kinyras sport facility. Transportation to be arranged. Anyone wishing to come along and support the team please call Lawrence on +35799478348.

Training Starts 14/10/2008

Training for the 2008-2009 JSRFU league season starts on Tuesday 14th of October 2008.
